Tomer’s Take:
- In Colorado, the next Monsoon surge arrives 8/25-8/26. It’s a small to medium intensity surge.
- Snow is again possible on the 14ers.
- Telluride Mountain Run 8/27. Forecast below.
- Looking ahead, the Monsoon gradually fades after 8/26 but still remains present at a low intensity until 8/31.
- After 8/31, data suggest the Monsoon continues to fade.
Current Setup
Water vapor satellite shows the suppression of the Monsoon (for now). Orange/red colors = drier air aloft.

Relative humidity in the middle of the atmosphere suggests the main Monsoon surge from 8/25-8/26 slides away from the San Juan Mountains on 8/27. But, the air is not totally dry with a 50% chance for afternoon thunderstorms over Telluride.
Early September
The latest data suggest the Monsoon fades to a low intensity the first week of September.
NOAA September Temperature and Precipitation Outlook:
Hi Chris ! Will this monsoon moisture be a reflection of what’s to come this winter (snow)‽ Winter Park has been getting slammed and we’re hoping for big snow totals.
Thanks
Rose
I think the first half will mirror 2021. Look for a warmer and drier than normal Fall with best snow waiting until December. Chris
