The atmospheric river (AR) dislodges tonight and then moves into the interior Rockies with snow for UT, ID, WY, and CO. On the north side, the main low pressure hitting the Pacific Northwest actually tied for the lowest atmospheric pressure reading on record for that region at 943mb.
Significant totals are possible in the Wasatch and Tetons with moderate amounts for Colorado. Click to enlarge my snow forecast, these are on-mountain accumulations (mid-mountain or higher):
A few highlights:
MID-MOUNTAIN | 10/25-27 |
MAMMOTH MTN | 24″ |
REVELSTOKE, BC | 8″ |
ALTA | 17″ |
JACKSON HOLE | 17″ |
LOVELAND | 6″ |
VAIL | 6″ |
In the Pacific Northwest, heavy precipitation is likely but snow levels will fluctuate wildly between 4,500′ and 6,000′. Significant snow likely. Whistler/Blackcomb’s higher alpine terrain could see a couple feet. Most of the snow will stay in B.C.’s higher terrain with moderate amounts reaching Banff and surrounding Alberta, especially late-week.
Hi Chris – thanks for your more detailed forecasts. Question – are the snowfall amounts shown in chart for higher elevation at the ski areas or for town? For example, 9″ of snow for Steamboat on 10/26 – is that for town or on ski mtn.
Thanks
Thanks, David. Yes these are on-mountain snow accumulations. Mostly shooting for mid-mountain. Chris
