Snow continues in Colorado 11/11: NW Flow

Another 6 inches fell at Loveland Ski Area with more on the way. I’m forecasting this northwest flow through Friday morning across the Central and Northern Mountain zones of Colorado.

Loveland Ski Area snow stake 11/11/2021 5am.

In Colorado this NW Flow is magical. It’s early season but it’s still having an impact. I’m forecasting additional snow accumulation through Friday.

Atmospheric wind flow at about 18,000ft according to GFS model 11/11/2021.

In the Pacific Northwest, the flow remains wet with impulses of heavy precipitation. The rain/snow line will be going up Thursday before going back down Friday.

I’m really enjoying these daily blog posts Chris. I look forward to the email each morning. Thanks so much for these (and the YouTube vids). Take care.

When you only select a few mountains to include in your list it isn’t relevant for the rest of us to check it out. How much trouble would it be to include a map and/or inclusion of more ski mountains in your reporting. A map with snow totals is always helpful to see what is going on in one’s particular area. I live in Crested Butte and have been watching you on youtube for over a year and appreciate what you have been doing.

Thanks for the feedback. I have bigger plans for this and another service in the future and will include most major ski areas including Crested Butte and a map. Right now i’m just getting this off the ground and will add CB to my list. Best, Chris

If it isn’t too much trouble, would you please add Red Mountain Pass in SW Colorado to your list as well? Thanks!

MVM = Chris Tomer (most valuable meteorologist) Its TOMER TIME baby! With a capital T!

I’d suggest that san juan mtn area as a region is very interesting. I love Monarch/Cb/Telluride/Silverton/WC/Taos areas. They seem to get different snow patterns than Summit Co, as WP/SB/Eldora get even different snow from the rest of Colorado.

I find it interesting that La Nina brought decent snow to WC last year but not so much yet this season.

Love the blog, hope you make money off me/us just not directly from me/us. And don’t make me get a crappy vax that maybe barely works, just to see and chat up the weather. Can’t stand that snot nosed, no jump shot having weasel over at closed snow. He can’t predict his next meal much less mountain weather. CHEERS!

Hey Chris, love your videos and use them pretty much anytime I’m anticipating a storm. I know you are located in Denver, but would love if you could add some Montana locations, specifically Big Sky. We have very few resources up here, and like I said we LOVE your stuff!
    Thanks a lot!!
